Well, I couldn't wait any longer! :) I have to talk about being engaged!
It is so crazy that I have been engaged for over 2 months already.... Time sure does fly... but I am just as excited about it (I am sure most newly engaged, bride-to-bes are probably all like this).
Valentine's Day has never really been a 'holiday' that I really partake in. Honey and I will get Maia some goodies and a gift, but we don't really play into those holidays, but this year I wanted to do something little for him, so, I did.
I got some balloons, index cards, donut holes, milk and a sharpie and went to town. Yes, I suck and didn't take any pictures. But I put a picture on each index card - starting from our very 1st picture together- and then hung those from the balloons (I did 7 balloons). On the other side of the card a put a reason why I love him:
1. I love you because you are an AMAZING father
2. I love you because you always know how to make me laugh
3. I love you because you always put yourself last
....
You get the idea. I hung those in a trail from the hallway to the kitchen so when he opened the bedroom door in his face would be one of the worst (and most memorable) pictures we have ever taken. The last balloon was taped to the fridge. Once he opened the fridge there were the donut holes and milk and a nice little note: DONUT You Know I Love You a HOLE lot? (Yes, I am corny).
I did this for him, because I expected nothing in return.
On Saturday, February 15, Kim kept waking me up asking me what time it was!!! I was getting so annoyed - he has his phone, he can read the time, why did he have to keep waking me up. FINALLY I got up and looked at my phone and there was a VERY beautiful neckalce, gold and silver like I have been wanting - he got me this year.
On Sunday, February 16, I woke up and he was already gone for work so I grabbed my phone and went into the living room. When I picked my phone up I heard something drop and it was some earrings - he got me again!!!
On Monday, February 17, I woke up and looked at my phone - no goodies. So, I got ready for the day. Babe asked me if I could leave work early and take Maia to her doctor's appointment - uhm.. excuse me... DUH! any reason to leave work! So, I got out of work and went home and Babe was there (he was supposed to be at work - which is why I had to take her) and Maia was not there. Weird. But, I was out of work early - so whatevs.
He was getting changed so I changed and went into the dining room and was changing purses and such and he was yelling through the house (which I CAN'T STAND) and I kept saying "WHAT!?!" Finally, I stopped replying, went into the kitchen got a glass of water and walked back into the dining room to see Babe... down on one knee, with a ring in his hand, and the next words made me the happiest woman in the world - "Breanne Eagly, will you marry me?" All I could muster out was "Are you serious?!" but that was quickly followed by a "YES! OF COURSE!"
I was disappointed, though. I TOTALLY thought I would cry ball! I had been wanting this for so long - I just thought I would react different.
We hugged it out, and planted a couple wet ones on each other and went out to celebrate!
First stop: Los Quatros Amigos... with my fiance! (EEEK!)
Second stop: The Michigan Tap Room... with my fiance! (where he had friends waiting to join the celebration) :)
Third stop: Home!
It felt so good to be home with just him - to soak in the happenings and to enjoy each other alone on this day. Once we got home, and I stepped down from the could I was on all day... It hit me. I am engaged, we are getting married, we are on our way to starting our own little family! The tears came then... a little late, but they still came.
Since then, we have had fun finding ideas, planning, talking to family, and enjoying this phase of life!
This was inside - a heart shaped Pandora charm that opens and has a little diamond 'ring' in it - my mom is amazing!
This is a picture frame I received from someone I work with - the card was perfect!
I can't wait to show you plans and ideas! I am so excited for this journey!
