Tooting my Own Horn!

I hate to toot my own horn but...
TOOT TOOT!

Everyone has downfalls of their job - whether it is wanting more money, better hours, a better boss or coworkers, it seems as though enough is never enough and there are certain things about that that I agree with.

When I started here I was working at a restaurant and at smoothie place, never getting enough sleep and never having enough time for me. When I was told about the open interviews going on at my current company, I figured - What the heck - I might as well!

The position was part time and it was for a temporary program (lasting from November to July). I went to the interviews (nailed them, of course) and got the job

Then I put in my two weeks at the smoothie place.

Then my restaurant job closed and my heart was broken. I worked there for four and half years and that place was my second family. I made so many relationships (including my Love) and friendships that I had grown to love! But, everything happens for a reason.

This temporary job was bad HORRID! It was answering incoming calls from customers who just received a letter that their vehicle was in a class action settlement... really? I think with all of the automated prompts I get when trying to accomplish something, that NO HUMAN BEING should ever have to go through that. They treated us like we went to their house and ruined their car! There was never a dull moment, that is for sure. In the midst of all the rude customers and lazy dealership workers, I still - somehow- happened to continuously get the best call times (beating over 80 other representatives)!

dont be discouraged

TOOT TOOT

Since this was a part time job and my only job - I was getting 4 days a week to begin and that wasn't enough, so I applied at another restaurant and BAM! I had two employers again!

TOOT TOOT (I think, lol)

So, when the program started to ramp down they started to place all of us, all over the company. I was shocked when I was not asked in the 1st round of ramp down to take a full time, permanent position elsewhere. Honestly, I was heartbroken. Call center environment is VERY, if not exactly, similar to restaurants and the rumor was they were offering those positions to the top performers. I was extremely discouraged when the second wave of ramp down came and there I was - still taking calls from angry irate customers.

After being discouraged and talking to my manager I was informed that yes, they did move some of the top performers first, but they did not move all of them. I was kept on this program because I was performing so well, and this was a first time customer (we were subcontracted) and they wanted more business from them, so they couldn't take all of the top performers away. Which, makes complete sense, but gossip got the best of me that round!

In July my manager recommended me for a full time, permanent position within my companies Social Media department (he KNEW how much I loved Facebook, blogs, and social media in general). So, July 6th was my last day in that NASTY environment and I was so excited!

So, off to Social Media I went! I loved it at the beginning... DUH - NO TELEPHONE CALLS! Then we got a new 'client' and they changed everything and I did NOT like it, at all. But, I put up with it for the paycheck! I met some great people here and am FOREVER thankful for them and making the position more enjoyable!

In January there was a posting for the Group Travel department!!!! I was RECOMMENDED to apply for it!

TOOT TOOT!

So, I did and here I am today! I finally was able to quit my serving job and now I have only one employer and it has been that way for a while now!

TOOT TOOT!

I love my job and the company I work for. I had to put up with so much and deal with so much more, but NOW it was totally worth it.
